Experience before Logic

Not Logic, Experience

In the 1990’s I did a talk for about 500 people on Not Logic, Guidance or “Experience Before Logic”.

In those days we understood something like

“Left brain= Logic/Rationality; Right Brain=experiential, creativity, ethereal”

Now we are becoming more aware that the explanation is a bit more complex than that; not necessarily totally complicated, but more clearly complex.

Back then I identified with the Christian community because I thought that my early all-consuming vibrational life-altering experiences with Source-Spirit-Universal Love-Energy was most closely associated with that path beyond whatever options I knew at that point.

Those beginning clear experiences defined themselves as “Home” for me. They were unmistakably clear, calming, perspective giving. Their spiritual “constitution” was all Life. They gradually would quietly, internally give direction to everything in my life. My revealing of what was happening for me was only in the degree I was comfortable allowing at the time since I was living in the midst of a community where the knowing of what I was experiencing was not yet up to speed with what I was enjoying privately. Many bible phrases were used by spirit as the inducement into some of these experiences.

I meditated (not memorized) on bible every day for over four decades. Meditation in this scenario refers to the experience of the content in inspired stillness; it moves from the inspiring content into blissful non-content oriented vibrational messages. Memorization on the other end of the practice spectrum, simply feeds the logical/rational/fact storage-shed of the mind and leads to hubris. Fact storage/spillage without the knowing-experience of the content is off track.

The bible itself calls its readers to meditation everywhere and never calls anyone to memorization anywhere, (including passages Christians point to, they do not mention memorization of bible as a recommended practice). My understanding so far has been that this is probably because of what the bible says in the first book to the Corinthians chapter 8 verse 1 where it speaks of “knowledge puffing up and love building up”.

All of this is part of Experience before logic. We’re going to: “Logic always follows Experience” where it shows support in the details beneath the unveiling-experience.

Experience, spirit guidance, flowing with and AS The Wind (like in Gospel of John 3:8) is something I found many Christians teachers to teach and were afraid of at the same time (like me). Teaching that there are multiple words for the word “Know” in the bible, then explaining away or mis-dimenuating (one of my own fabricated words) the actual experiencing of experience; the actual experiencing of that of which are made- Spirit (We are The Wind (John 3:8); we are One with God- who is Spirit (I Corinthians 6:19).

There will be some or many who can come at this and say I am leaving things out, that “only Christians (born again by the blood, etc) are one with God and no one else. Well I taught that for over four decades as well, due to community pressure, rather than what I know from my clear unmistakable encounters (much like Apostle Paul’s experience on the road to Damascus being blinded by the Infinite Light temporarily in order to give him clarity), with Spirit personally. There would be labels or names given to me here (like “universalist”) usually issued in a derogatory way. The unloving practice of “labeling” is very wide-spread among Christian communities with which I was associated. Labeling is a practice of creating a box around something so as to attempt to control it, attack it, or out of fear keep “those” people at a distance. Interesting practice since Christianity is said to be built on love. Whatever is not of love is not of God (see the book of 1 John chapter 4). Letting things simply be, letting people simply be, is Love.

Experience before Logic came from reading the bible all the way through numerous times in various versions over decades; it came from daily meditating to the point of understanding from Spirit instead of woodenly dissecting black words on white pages. High Frequency Loving perspective was emanating up from the aroma coming from the smoldering incense beneath the words that were lit up for me by Spirit. I discovered clear, experiential life-altering, uplifting guidance there. I often understood what people called “difficult passages” because I was taught by Spirit to take the long view, to let go of labels, to leave things to Source- Clarity always comes on higher frequencies where there is a broader vista.

Allowing the extant, expansive Infinite Energy of the Universe (God=Spirit=Energy), surrendering, listening, began to demonstrate through Substance and enlightened experiences that seemed unlikely before (See the New Testament book Hebrews chapter 11:1–3) things/new unforeseen options/insight through Clarity which always induces calm-knowing-ness. Knowing God juxtaposed alongside knowing the Bible by wooden means are at two different ends of the spectrum of knowing: one feels alive, one feels no so alive. Direct Experience of the Infinite Source of Life is always, Always, Life-giving; it is Felt as such; it is known as such; it is unmistakable and clarifying and automatically fecund.

Engaged experience with the eternal, ever expanding Source of life, The Non-Physical into which we are inextricably interwoven, is the Life. Attuning to this basis of Reality is Life; it is the source of Understanding, and the flow of all things Joy, Love, Abundance (= Life Indeed)

Here are the passages I used the day I spoke on Experience Before Logic

We seek logical and sensible answers to questions. But God Shepherds us to experience His Person, His Ways, His Truth in order to discover perfect interior peace and composure under/ within any circumstance.

Matthew 21:18–22

Jesus cursed the fig tree….

Disciples saw it and asked a logical question “How did the fig tree wither away so soon?”

Jesus’ response did not directly answer their logical question, but rather led them to discovery experience: “Assuredly, I say to you, If you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and cast into the sea’, it…will…be…done. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you…will…receive”.

Proverbs 3:5–6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart (lay all of your weight upon Him; stretch out upon Him)

And lean not on your own understanding (don’t trust in your ability to figure things out, to make logical sense of things…)

In all your ways acknowledge Him, (experiential fellowship with God, a Spirit)

And He shall direct (make smooth; make straight) your paths.

Matthew 16:8

“Oh you of little faith why do you reason among yourselves”…then He pointed them to two big experiences that were to have been instructive living examples for them in their living and expressing, but to which they did not pay enough attention to get the point-viz. the feeding of the five thousand and the feeding of the four thousand, both with essentially one plate of food to start out.

Luke 24:25

Jesus anonymously spoke with the two on the road to Emmaus, who were downcast about Jesus having died (they did not know He had risen and was now unrecognizable to them). As they told of their disappointment, the “stranger” Jesus, told them “How slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!” Jesus did not say “How slow of mind you are to understand” or “How slow of heart you are to understand”. Instead He used a word that includes logical and experiential components. He used the word “believe”. Believe: to know, agree, surrender to: a truth, a person, a way.

Ephesians 3:14–21 esp. v.19

Paul is praying for the Ephesian followers of Christ here. He prays that they would know (experience) the love of Christ which passes knowledge (scientific knowledge).

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep Him in perfect peace whose mind [image, imagination] is stayed [propped up on] on You, because He trusts [attach oneself; to be careless] in You

Exodus 33:

Moses had drug young Joshua through all kinds of Awesome experiences. Three of these include: Parting of the Red Sea, Parting of the Jordan River and God giving Moses the Ten Commandments (exodus 24:13). Then in Exodus 33, Moses goes into the Holy of Holies and talks with God like a man talks with his friend. When Moses leaves, Joshua the young man is left there with the Cloud covering the doorway and emanating every virtue of the living God into that room…into the very pores of Joshua. He was experiencing Jehovah.

I John 4:16 We have known (experiential, intuitive knowing) and believed (mental persuasion or opinion) the love that God has for us. Both experiential and logical must be accounted for in some way. Experiential precedes logic.
